Baby loss is still spoken about as something that happens to the birthing parent.

That leaves men and non-birthing partners to find their own way through it at work: some compartmentalise just to get through the day, some use work as a distraction from what's happening at home, and for others it becomes another drain on an energy they don't have left to give. Whatever the response, most go without support, often because nobody around them knows what that support should look like.

Most workplaces want to get this right.

What's often missing isn't the will to help; it's a clear sense of what a grieving father or partner might be experiencing, and the confidence to say something rather than nothing for fear of getting it wrong. For Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026, Fertility Matters at Work and Tommy's are joining forces for a free webinar for HR, people and wellbeing teams, and managers, on men's experience of baby loss and, specifically, how employers can support it well. We're bringing together lived experience and expert guidance, so you leave with something to put into practice, not just something to think about.
